[:ro]Originar din Indiana, din apropierea Detroit și Chicago (unele dintre cele mai cunoscute centre ale muzicii electronice), Troy Pierce a fost atras de vibe-urile electro încă din copilărie. Astfel, în timp, a ajuns unul dintre stâlpii comunității internaționale de tehno, apropierea sa de bastionul tehno Minus consacrându-l ca artist chiar în primii ani de la debut. Troy a fondat și un label propriu, „Items & Things” (în colaborare cu Magda și Marc Houle), pentru care este, de asemenea, foarte cunoscut. Pe lângă promovarea de noi talente prin intermediul acestui label și implicarea sa în seria de party-uri underground „Down & Out”, artistul continuă să lucreze și la producția unor piese proprii, în colaborare cu partenerii de label sau pe cont propriu (un EP personal, realizat sub „Items & Things”), dar și la compunerea unor materiale noi, sub un alt alias cunoscut – Louderbach.
Sound-ul ce poartă marca Troy Pierce e unic și nestatornic, variind constant de la dens, la complex, compus din layer-e multiple sau în forma inițială, de vibrație originară, abstractă. Paleta sa extinsă de sunete include o gamă variată de influențe care depășește limitele existenței obișnuite, conducând ascultătorul în alte lumi. Nu degeaba, lui Troy Pierce îi place să spună că îi place „să compună și să pună muzică ciudată pentru oameni ciudați – acele melodii WTF care îți rămân în minte, ca un sunet venit din altă dimensiune”. Troy este un DJ aflat în permanentă experimentare, motiv pentru care nu trebuie să îi ratezi set-ul din acest an, de la Blaj aLive Festival. Since then, he's developed into a pillar of the modern techno community thanks to world tours, live shows, albums and EPs under a number of aliases and as part of more than one studio collective. “I like making and playing weird music for weird people - those WTF tracks that stick in your head as a sound from another dimension” says the man whose close association to techno bastion Minus has earned him a deserved and revered reputation during the years since first emerging. Looking ahead though, it will be for his own label, Items & Things (co-run with friends Magda and Marc Houle) that he is most known. Whilst the rejuvenated label will aim to break new talent and continue its run of underground and intimate Down & Out parties, Troy will also work on his own music: in collaborative effort with his new label mates, on a solo EP on I&T, but also some fresh material from his much-lauded Louderbach alias.
The Troy Pierce sound is one which has constantly veered from dense, layered and abstract to stripped down, acid infused and pulsing. His sonic palette is one that draws on a wide array of influences and reaches far outside the confines of the studio and into an otherworld entirely. Fusing techno with minimalism, darkness with light and heaviness with rhythm, this American has never been afraid to experiment in the outer regions of his vast musical universe.
